A Day which Enlightened - Past,Future and Present

It's always a tough effort to sit for a luring lecture especially during the evenings. But this day it was a totally new experience when Swami Adyatmananda Saraswathi, Sambodh Foundation  talked to us about his vision on Parenting. A topic which has been discussed through many generations.

Swamiji hit the right chord while he spoke about the importance of time in once life. He slowly stepped into the main subject of the eve Parenting by speaking about the relation that has to be grown within the family structure. When he spoke about bringing once children without fear my mind drew parallels to Stephen R Covey's 'Seven Habbits of Highly Effective People'.  'Respect' is the right word he spoke about, it is indeed a simple thought if we can respect ourselves and each other inside the family we naturally make it a habbit to take that character to the society. He took the economic stability India has achieved during recession to site as an example. It is indeed a great thought to note that none of our banks needed a bail out unlike many overseas during those tough times. It's greatly helped by families who paid back there loans. It became indeed a debatable point when Swamiji expressed that arranged marriage has a better mileage than one finding his own partner.

Swamiji related marriage to expanding ourselves to a new world. He precisely pointed out that the younger generation is rather contracting which is not the right path for a healthy society. It was indeed an engaging hour and a half to have been interacting with such a thinking personality.

National Youth Day

Indian government declared January 12 as the Nation Youth Day in 1984. As this day marks the birthday of great Indian philosopher Swami Vivekananda whose teachings are the biggest philosophical asset of the country. The motto of declaring youth day on the birthday of the philosophical guru was motivating and inculcating these pious ideals to the coming generation.
Swami Vivekananda’s ideas have had a great influence on Indian youth for generations. This message to the youth is still a invigorating as it was a century ago. In his words, depression, weakness, fear and jealousy are the greatest enemies of young people. “The greatest sin is to think yourself weak. The remedy of weakness is not brooding over weakness, but thinking of strength” he said.
To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda Kerala Brahmana Sabha Yuvajana Vibhagam – South Zone is going to celebrate  the Vivekananda Jayanthi with various activities on 26th January 2012 at Quilon Brahmana Samajam Hall, Kollam.
